Instagram is becoming the next big thing in education. In addition to books, conferences and Twitter, I use Instagram to get access to the content you won’t find anywhere else on the internet. The content is a mix of coding tips, good advice and inspiring visuals. If you appreciate good photography and aesthetics, check out a list of 10 high-quality Instagram accounts that I follow:

Be curious. Read widely. Try new things. I think a lot of what people call intelligence boils down to curiosity. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #code #programming #developer #coding #wordpress #programmer #webdeveloper #javascript #womenintech #softwaredeveloper #girlswhocode #devlife #worldcode #csharp #learntocode #reactjs #developerlife #frontenddeveloper #angularjs #100daysofcode #pythonprogramming #peoplewhocode #fullstackdeveloper #vuejs #backenddeveloper #dotnet #programmingjokes #mobiledevelopment

Friday working from home, always helps to make the weekend feel that little bit longer! 🏡😊 . The tech world is full of topics that get debated over and over again: • Mac or PC? • Windows/Linux/macOS? • iOS or Android? . One of the favourite subjects in the iOS world is whether to build UIs using code or whether to use “storyboards”... . Storyboards are Apple’s tool to make UI development faster and easier by making it visual. They make it far easier to define layouts and test them on different device form-factors without even having to run your code. They also show how different screens within an app fit together, and tend to be far quicker/easier to understand than reading through piles of layout code in Swift - especially when working in a team where you didn’t necessarily work on the original code! 😅 . I think storyboards get a lot of bad press. I’ll use storyboards (and “XIBs” which are visual designs for single views) wherever I can, and then drop down to code when something more complex is needed. If organised carefully, storyboards can make iOS development much easier and faster. Yes there can be issues if multiple devs update the same file, hence my comment around organising them carefully (eg multiple storyboards linked with storyboard references). . But what do you think?? If you’re an iOS dev, are you a visual person or a code person? 🤔🙈 . I hope you’ve all had a productive week, and enjoy your weekend! 😊✌🏼 . {Also, who’s coming to @meetupandcode on Sunday??? 😬} . . . . #devlife #developers #educateyourself #designyourworkspace #softwaredeveloper #programmers #freelancers #programming #startups #developer #softwareengineer #appdeveloper #code #programmer #coding #coder #webdeveloper #fullstackdeveloper #programmerlife #100daysofcode #dev #learntocode #entrepreneur #codinglife #codingisfun #geek #lifeofadeveloper #iosdeveloper #workhardanywhere

"what #programming language should i learn first?" __ this is a question i get often in my DMs so i thought i would open the discussion here. when i first started to learn to code I learned #javascript . i kew the internet wasn’t going anywhere and that learning javascript and learning it well i would be employable. With that being said, my first job required me to know C# which I had to pick up on the job. __ when it comes to learning to code it isn’t about how many languages you know, it is about how well you can pick up on patterns and solve problems. __ i want to hear from you and what language you first learned and what you would tell your younger self starting out to code. . . #codelife #codingisfun #ilooklikeanengineer #javascript #developerdiaries #codeismylife #techielife #setupinspiration #womenwhocode #womenintech #womenintechnology #engineeringlife #buildyourown #aspiretoinspire #programmerrepublic #nerdtalk #startup #developer #reactnative #tbt

Are you starting out as a UI/UX designer and don’t know how to get clients? 🤷🏻‍♂️ . Recently I’ve been writing about offering free help to a small business when you’re starting out. This way you can add real projects to your portfolio and also learn new things. 🔥 . Honestly I don’t see a reason why a small business would not be interested in seeing a redesign that could bring more leads and clients, with no obligation. Of course, a lot depends on your approach. . Don’t overpromise and suggest smaller tasks, such as redesigning the hero section of the landing page. Sometimes replacing an image and a typography tweak can mean a huge difference. . I think this a great opportunity for all beginners trying to build portfolio and position yourself in the market. 💯 . What do you think about this idea? Would you be interested in reading about ways to approach a small business? . . . #workstation #deskspace #deskgoals #creativespace #digitaldesign #appdesign #webdesign #webdesigner #workplace #workspace #beautyoftechnology #whiteinterior #setup #homeoffice #minimalsetups #workdesk #officeinspiration #setupinspiration #workfromhome #workingfromhome #workspacegoals #imac #desksetup #whitecultural #isetups #workspaces #productdesigner

How to get REALLY good at coding. • Start trying to automate things in your life using software. • @markdalton_ and I have created new analytics for my profile using Instagram's API. These analytics help me learn how my post does within the first hour and how that affects the long-term success of the post. • We coded this for fun, but we are always using third party API's to make our lives easier (and more automated). Automation is your BFF in business. • If you're doing something tedious, find ways to automate part of it (or all of it😉). Every task you automate with software just makes you a better coder. Plus, you can add it to your resume. • Do you code for fun? Have you made any cool side projects?

My daily habits 🙉👇 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📖 Reading: I never read books, but in order to compensate I read at least one Medium article per day. I bought myself the membership for €50 per year and it’s worth the money so far. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⚽️ Sport: Taking breaks during the day are highly effective for getting inspiration and refreshing your brain. I often go for a walk with my dog whenever I just don’t want to worry about anything and I play 3 times per week field hockey. :) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☀️ Morning routine: Wake up, take a shower, drink a glass of water (you are always dehydrated when you get awake) and start working. That’s all it takes. 🙌 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Join the community ❤️👉 @jens.codes #buildupdevs - - - - #html #css #javascript #technology #worldcode #development #developer #programming #computer #macbook #uxdesign #instagood #codinglife #funny #tech #web #webdesign #code #fun #setupinspiration #uidesign #website #inspiration #webdevelopment #apple #love #buildtheweb

If you’re a regular follower, you’ll know I bought a new desk recently. Adjustable standing desks are a bit expensive and I didn’t want to make that investment, so I went for an Ikea model that kind of allowed me to turn it into a standing desk if I wanted. The problem? It’s a pain in the ass to pull it up and push it down again — it’s a two-person job and not the most practical thing. Then @wearedeskmate sent me their two-tiered model to review and I’m sharing my thoughts on it below: . It’s meant for people who work from home or at a co-work space, who want a standing desk but don’t want to spend money on a “typical” one . It’s made of 100% recyclable cardboard but it held the weight of my monitor perfectly (on their FAQ section they mention the top tier can hold up to 15kg and the bottom tier, 10kg) . It’s easy to fold and carry around (there’s a case you can buy for £6.99) . They have two models: the one I used that they call Deskmate (their original model) and a smaller one called Minimate for laptops only . If I had more space on my desk (I can’t get rid of my signature figures 😁), I would definitely use the @wearedeskmate more often. I guess I have to start thinking of a new desk setting. . Summer mode on. - Finally, it is warm enough to get out to the terrace to work on some light tasks like email and development task triage. At the beginning of the summer, it is never too bright to work in the sun, I'm almost regretting that built desktop development setup with mac mini 😎 - Today and tomorrow I’m fully booked with development tasks to make time for video recording at the end of the week. - [6 | 100] #100DaysOfHustle . . . . . . . . #buildupdevs #coding #coder #codinglife #appdeveloper #devlife #softwareengineer #engineer #softwaredeveloper #programming #programmer #programminglife #computerscience #developers #xcode #iosdev #workplace #macbookpro #macbook #iOS #swiftlanguage #freelancer #freelance #worldofcode #programmerrepublic #remotework #remote #digitalNomad
